Venice never sleeps. On the lagoon island of San Lazzaro, Armenian monks sing their centuries-old prayers; in the Venetian city centre, the Baroque ignites with Claudio Monteverdi, Barbara Strozzi, and the Caccini sisters. The gambas and voices of the Intesa ensemble bring these repertoires together: mystical songs by Grigor Narekatsi and Nerses Shnorhali build bridges with Italian madrigals full of yearning and sorrow.
